Weight is saved and redistributed to the clubhead perimeter resulting in high MOI. VFT and Hyperbolic Face Technology combine for consistently long distance, high ball speeds, and a large sweet spot. Aerodynamic contours mean added distance from higher impact speeds. Made from material that is stronger and lighter than titanium.ĭownswing with 14% less energy from drag compared to the RAZR Hawk Driver. Crown made from 7 million turbostratic carbon fibers for precision thickness control. The OptiFit Hosel improves trajectory and accuracy with an Open, Square, or closed adjustable face angle. OptiFit Weights (12 grams and 2 grams) can promote either Draw ball flight or Neutral ball flight by shifting the clubhead's center of gravity. Drive like never before with these customizable settings. This performance leading driver features the Optifit Hosel, which allows face angle adjustments for better accuracy and improved trajectory, and the OptiFit Weights, which adjust to promote Neutral or Draw ball flight. The effects of the adjustments on ball flight are noticeable, but we think better players would prefer an extra option or two in the shaft settings for a little more fine tuning. Our first driver to feature adjustability with OptiFit Technology and Forged Composite. Callaway Razr X Black Driver 8.5° Callaway Motore F8 Graphite Stiff Right Handed 46.0in. Whilst their Tour players will use this driver, the Callaway RAZR Fit is ideal for amateurs as most of the settings promote a draw to offset the general in-built slice of your average golfer. Our preferred option was to set the face at neutral with the draw bias weight setting as the head sat very nicely and gave a consistent flight with a soft draw. We tried this and it is a very powerful setting but needs a lot of clubhead speed to work effectively. We understand that the preferred setting on Tour is for the open face setting and the heavier 12 gram weight on the heel side of the head to promote a slight draw. One nice feature is that the shaft is not rotated when you adjust the face angle and therefore it keeps the grip in the same position for every setting. Set the face to close and you shut the face by 1.5 degrees and add a degree of loft, which will make the club easier to hit. When you set the face to open it changes the angle by 2.5 degrees and decreases the loft by 1 degree. This uses a sleeve on the hosel to offer 3 options for the face angle are clear and easy to understand and adjust. Combine the moveable weights with the new adjustable hosel and you do have a much more flexible and accurate custom fitting process than before. While it might not be for everyone, for those who want the compact size and can swing consistently, this will be a perfect fit. The low-spin head and stock shaft are excellent. I think it is the longest driver off the rack for 2013.

The lighter forged composite crown helps the increase the club’s MOI and unlike the Diablo Octane driver, the carbon pattern is hidden from view.Ĭallaway has been using adjustable weights in their drivers since 1999, but they were pre-fitted, so the RAZR Fit driver is the first model where you have been able to adjust them yourself or with the help of a fitter. Callaway stepped it up and took it deep with the RAZR Fit Xtreme driver.

Now that may not sound like much, but it’s probably worth about half a club less into the green. The 455 cc head has a lovely shape and Callaway say it is 27% more aerodynamic than the RAZR Hawk driver which equates to an additional 1.3 miles per hour extra clubhead speed. The finish of the club is very shiny which goes along nicely with the black design of the head. The shaft colors and design make it a good fit. The entire driver has very clean lines as if it were inspired by race cars. We were among the first to test the Callaway RAZR Fit driver and we were very impressed as the sound and feel are excellent. The black, red, and grey make for an outstanding contrast and a very powerful look to the head.
